Meta announces one of its existing products is likely to get a price hike, the company working towards a future of metaverse asks the people to pay $100 (Rs 8000 approx) more for the Quest 2 VR headset.
The product’s age is over two years now, so the price hike comes as a surprise to everyone. Also the new price will come into effect from next month, just a few days away now.
The news prices of Quest 2 headset will approximately hit $399 (Rs 31,870 approx) for the 128GB variant, and $499 (Rs 39,860 approx) for the higher 256GB storage model.
Meta claims that the making of the product cost has been increased; so, the customer looking forward to buying the VR headset will have to pay extra from their pocket to offset the increase.
Global inflation becomes a concern for companies, as technology brands which aren’t immune to this situation also point out that higher costs for everything is a reason behind the price hike.
In the other ways the company is trying to make more money out of this product while already talking about slowing down its hiring for the year only critical roles availability are there from the company.
These hikes play a smaller role in the revenue projections ensuring that businesses can function even though it is incurring major losses.
Quest 2 was pegged as an affordable VR solution, but excused for thinking as anything can’t be affordable other than a $100 price increment.
