A new startups accelerator program launched by Google which aims to help startups lead by women founders in India. According to google this program will help startup founders addressing challenges with unique experience. It primarily includes fundraising and hiring among others.
Google startups Accelerator – India Women Founders Program is going to start with 20 founders or co-founders. It also includes those startups which are at an early stage of their product and Google is going to support them through a three-month program.
Google Startups Acceleration will place special focus on areas like the access to networks, access to capital, hiring challenges, mentorships and many other issues. Which prove challenges to female founders for a variety of social reasons or low representation.
Why is the Startups Acceleration program setup by Google?
India is the world’s third largest startup capital, after the USA and China. It has over 100 unicorns with 22 added in the list in the year 2022. It is spanning its verticals such as e-commerce, health tech, fintech and many others. But only 15 percent of Indian unicorns have one, two or more women founders.
This new program is the part of the largest effort by Google for improvising the representations of women across different sections in India. Digitally trained workforce, be it entrepreneurship, professionals looking to upskill or young graduates who are seeking a head start in their career.
