Now users will be allowed to take a backup of their WhatsApp chats on Google Drive and also secure it behind encryption with a passkey. And soon we might get the messaging app having an option to let you export chats which were saved on the cloud.
After receiving this option, every user of WhatsApp can retrieve all their chats, and media files like videos and audio from their cloud account which is linked to the WhatsApp account. WhatsApp could easily access this feature in the settings of the app within the chat backup section.
Google Drive provides 15GB of storage for free that includes Gmail, Photos and more. With the application of this option, users can easily export files from their Drive account while making up a lot of storage space.
WhatsApp thought to limit its usage of Drive storage for its content and eventually planned to ask to pay extra to enjoy additional space on their cloud account. Intending to exploit unaccessed and non useful data removal, Meta-owned messaging platform is having a change of heart.
Thus, WhatsApp is looking forward to different opportunities to make the platform useful for users. This backup data option helped millions to restore their chats and files when moving to a new device. Its multiple device functionality ensures Whatsapp on the web without needing a phone mirrored all the time.
Additionally, an unread chat filter is soon going to be established for the users for getting the main chats at the top of the main WhatsApp screen.
People have to wait until these tools are released as they are still in beta, to try them out.
